Frequently Asked Questions - Fleklit

1. What is Fleklit?

Fleklit is a structured, online literacy program powered by Flekseespel.
* It teaches children how sounds work in words so they can read and spell with confidence.
* Stage 1 builds strong foundations in consonants, vowels, blending, syllables, flexible spelling, and capital letters.

2. Who is Fleklit designed for?

Fleklit is designed for:
* Early readers
* Students needing structured literacy support
* Neurodivergent learners (including dyslexic students)
* Children who benefit from explicit, repeatable routines
* Parents, tutors, therapists and educators wanting no-prep lessons

Lessons are broken into small, manageable chunks to reduce overwhelm and build success.

3. How does Fleklit teach reading differently?

Fleklit teaches children to:
* Hear sounds clearly
* Say sounds accurately
* Blend sounds in order
* Understand how spelling works
* Notice patterns and structure in words

Each unit follows repeatable routines so learners feel safe and confident.

4. What does Stage 1 cover?

Stage 1 includes six structured units:
* Unit 1 – Consonant Heroes
Children learn what consonants are and how to say and blend them clearly.
* Unit 2 – Tame the Vowels
Students learn to hear and recognise vowel sounds in words.
* Unit 3 – Build a Word
Learners practise blending sounds together in the correct order to build words.
* Unit 4 – Sound Seekers
Children learn to hear syllables (beats) in words and break longer words into parts.
* Unit 5 – Name Game Rules
Students understand that some names and words can be said or spelled in different ways.
* Unit 6 – Capitals Count
Learners understand capital and lowercase letters and when to use them.

5. How long are the lessons?

Lessons are designed in small, manageable sections. This allows:
* Reduced cognitive load
* Clear repetition
* Quick wins
* Confidence building

Sessions can be adapted to suit attention span and learner needs.

6. Is Fleklit suitable for dyslexic learners?

Yes. Fleklit supports:
* Explicit sound instruction
* Clear modelling
* Repetition and routine
* Reduced overwhelm
* Structured progression

The predictable lesson format supports working memory and processing differences.

7. Does Fleklit include teaching materials?

Yes. Each unit includes:
* Fully prompted lesson slides
* Clear teaching language
* Guided examples
* Practice activities
* Structured progression

There is no prep required.

8. Can parents use Fleklit at home?

Yes. The lessons include clear prompts so a parent, tutor, therapist or educator can confidently guide the learner. No specialist training is required.

9. Why does Fleklit teach that names and words can be spelled differently?

Because reading is not only about sound — it is also about understanding spelling patterns and flexibility. Children learn that:
* Some words follow sound rules
* Some names and words use different spellings
* That’s okay — we can adapt

This builds resilience instead of confusion.

10. Why are syllables important?

Syllables (beats in words) help children:
* Break longer words into parts
* Read multi-syllable words
* Spell more accurately
* Reduce guessing

Understanding syllables builds reading stamina.

11. Why teach capital letters separately?

Capital letters are used in special places:
* Start of sentences
* Names
* The pronoun “I”

Teaching capitals explicitly helps children edit and check their own writing with confidence.

12. Why power Fleklit with Flekseespel?

Flekseespel is a carefully developed, sound-based alphabet designed to make early reading and spelling simple. It uses consistent sound-symbol relationships with very few rules, reducing confusion and helping learners experience early success.

By starting with a clear and predictable system, students build confidence and begin to see themselves as capable learners. Once that foundation is secure, they are better prepared to adapt to traditional English spelling — with its many rules, variations and exceptions — without feeling overwhelmed.

Powering Fleklit with Flekseespel means children first learn clarity and structure, then develop flexibility and resilience as their literacy grows.
