Learners practise listening carefully for the “beats” in words, then marking where the breaks go.
The routines are repeated across the unit so students build confidence and reduce guessing when words get longer.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Longer words can feel overwhelming without a clear strategy.
When students can hear the natural “beats” in words, they can break them into manageable parts and read with greater control.
